NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
Location:Chongqing locates at 28°10’-32°13’ north latitude and 105°11’-110°11’east longitude. Chongqing has a favourable geographical location With a vast hinterland.With Hubei and Hu'nan Provinces to the east, Guizhou Province to the south, Sichuan Province to the west, Shaanxi Province to the north, Chongqing is a large commercial and industrial center, and enjoys convenient communications. Chongqing municipality was established on March 14, 1997.
Topography:Chongqing's eastern is lower than the western, lots of hills in the northwest and the middle areas, with Daba Mountain and Wuling Mountain to the southeast.
Area:Covering an area of 82,403 square kilometres, the municipality is 470 kilometres wide from east to west and 450 kilometres long from north to south.
Total 13 districts in Chongqing: Wanzhou, Fuling Yuzhong(center of Chongqing), Dadukou, Jiangbei, Shapingba, Jiulongpo, Nan'an, Beibei, Wansheng, Shuangqiao, Yubei, Ba'nan； 4 cities at county level in Chongqing: Jiangjin, Hechuan, Yongchuan, Nanchuan. And 23 counties in Chongqing: Changshou,Qijiang, Tongnan, Tongliang, Dazu, Rongchang, Bishan, Kaixian, Zhongxian, Liangping, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan, Wuxi, Chengkou, Dianjiang, Wulong,Fengdu, Qianjiang, Shizhu, Pengshui, Youyang, Xiushan.
River:The main rivers are Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wujing River, Fujing River, Qijiang River and Daning River.     Climate:Chongqing has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. Summer of Chongqing is hot and winter is warm, with a long frost-free period. Annual average temperature is 17.7℃. And annual preciptation is over 1239.6 mm.
